More Death Guard Progress for my Assembly Challenge

Hi all. My January 2026 Assembly Challenge ends in a couple of days so I wanted to get in another post with some more of my own progress. But first …

Remember, the challenge ends on January 31st and I will start putting together the round up after that. Please comment in this post with a URL(s) where I can grab some pictures or send them to me directly at my email:

annesimmaterium@gmail.com

I’ll post anything I receive on or before February 6, 2026. Feel free to let me know what it is you assembled and anything you’d like to make sure gets said about it in the post, if you wish.

Below is a little Death Guard quadrumvirate (left to right) of a death shroud terminator, the Lord of Contagion, a plague marine sort of hiding in the back, and the Tallyman.

Some heavy hitters from the “Maggot Lords” Combat Patrol box.

I left off the Lord’s weird skirt of cables and what looks like skin for painting though I think he looks ok without it. I’ll probably still use it though.

The marine has a plague spewer. It didn’t work out for me too well trying to glue his arms on, so I used green stuff and fiddled around trying to make a little tentacle and some weird flesh. I tried my hand at a tendon or two, but we’ll see how that goes once it is painted.

So except for one more terminator who is current a pile of parts on my hobby table, the Death Guard patrol box is complete. I did leave off a few bits here and there, for painting though if I want to play a game with it my little collection before painting (likely) I can blue tack my guys into some semblence of order. *

Also got the plague marine’s and Tallyman’s ride, at least in Combat Patrol where he doesn’t generate CPs anyway, magnetized so I can switch out stuff on the front hatches.

That’s all I have for now. I’m going to work on that last terminator tonight and hopefully get everything off of the sprues for a Kill Team Universal Equipment box I bought before February.

Take care all!

Anne

* With the help of a fully-assembled Tallyman of course!

My poor Lord of Poxes, who I put together some weeks ago, remains as a collection of sub-assemblies in a baggy forlorn and mostly forgotten. I like him both for his rules and his look, but I can’t really use him WYSIWYG in Combat Patrol so I’m going to paint my Lord of Contagion first. Honestly I like him even better and think he looks kind of bad ass. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Very nice progress, Anne. You’re going to have horde of those plague ridden beasts in no time! ๐Ÿ™‚ I went ahead and sent you an email a couple of days ago so you’re all set as far as I’m concerned. I’m looking forward to seeing the final results!

  2. I’ll try again Anne, I have put five of my Mantic Forge Fathers together (and have now just started painting them not as impressive as what you’ve achieved so far but I really hope you get this comment as I really would like to take part in my own small way.
    Cheers Roger.

    1. I received this message too, so I’m getting your comments now it seems, which is good.

Of course, I’d be delighted to include what you put together for January once you get some pictures together that I can put into the final post that I’m going to make in a few days.

  3. Good progress, Anne! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m imagining that for these minis, if you wanted to get them painted quickly for a game, a coat of pale green overall spattered with red, yellow and gloss varnish would give them that “I’ve been covered in vomit, blood, pus and snot” look that so sums up Nurgle (or so I’ve been led to believe)! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thank you, John. I’m actually going to approach it more from a “Pallid Hand” 2nd Company scheme, and go for white armor rather than green, which is what every Death Guard player I’ve ever gamed with has done. I think I had enough of green when I was doing Orks. ๐Ÿ™‚

But that is a very good suggestion. And you are right about the “gross” aspect. That is one thing that I think makes Nurgle-themed miniatures very forgiving. If you screw something up you can just slap some gore or dirt on it and people think it is a feature, not a flaw!

  4. Well done, some horribly lovely models in there! I’ve still got the Nurgle Blood Bowl team to do and time isn’t on my side but that’s part of the fun of the challenge isn’t it!

    1. Thank you. I’ve noticed in the years that I was gone from Warhammer that it seems like the models have become more elaborate and involved to put together than I remember. Some of those terminators and certainly the Lord of Contagion felt less like putting together a mini and more of a mini-kit in and of themselves. Fun though; I enjoy the assembly process.

Looking forward to seeing your Blood Bowl team. Yes, part of the fun of a challenge, I think, is getting close to the end and then seeing what else if anything you can squeeze in! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I hope so, but we’ll see, thanks! I’ll try to do the Pallid Hand boys proud. I’m pretty happy with how the magnets worked out on the Rhino. I’ll probably be running it mainly with the Havoc Launcher since that is the weapon the Rhino has in Combat Patrol. I doubt I’ll play much actual full 40K before 11th Edition comes and then we’ll see what the Lords of Change bring from across the pond.

Thank you for the link. I’ve started putting together the post for the challenge and now I have your offering!
